Certification Introduction

The CB system is an international system operated by IECEE. Certification bodies in IECEE member countries test the safety performance of electrical products based on IEC standards, and the test results, namely CB test reports and CB test certificates, are mutually recognized in IECEE member countries.

At first, the CB system was initiated by CEE (formerly the European National Committee for Electrical Equipment Qualification Testing) and merged into IEC in 1985.

The IECEE CB system is the first truly international system for the mutual recognition of safety testing reports for electrical products. Multilateral agreements have been formed between the National Certification Bodies (NCBs) of various countries, allowing manufacturers to obtain national certifications from other member countries of the CB system through a CB test certificate issued by the NCB.

The CB system is based on international IEC standards. If the national standards of some member countries are not fully consistent with IEC standards, national differences are allowed, but they should be made public to other members. The CB system uses CB test certificates to confirm that product samples have successfully passed appropriate tests and comply with relevant IEC requirements and requirements of member states.

The main goal of the CB system is to promote international trade by promoting the standardization and coordination of national and international standards, as well as cooperation with product certification bodies, in order to bring manufacturers closer to the ideal goal of "one test, multiple applications".
